Here’s something that’s true: the supplements market (at least in the United States) is unregulated and thus full of supplements that barely contain what they’re supposed to contain, or in there but in a form with very little bioavailability, or whatever else. It’s also easy to accidentally poison yourself with some supplements, such as iron and Vitamin D.

Plus, even if you’re buying good supplements that don’t have these problems and know enough not to poison yourself (admittedly you don’t need to know very much), you probably don’t need supplements. You probably get all the nutrition you need in your actual diet and if you take supplements you’re probably just going to pee them right on out (with a few exceptions, hence the poisoning). If you want more iron in your diet, try cooking with cast iron, or getting one of those iron fish, or… I dunno… licking a railing? becoming a vampire?
