A couple years ago I was extremely sick to the point where I was semi-regularly up all night in excruciating pain and vomiting. This mostly doesn’t happen anymore (the good news: they never figured out what was wrong with me and thanks to COVID I never did any of my next round of tests).
Anyway… I was in too much pain to focus on reading or watching anything. So instead I spent a lot of time playing video games, and by “video games” I mostly mean Stardew Valley—a farming simulator in which you are a young person from the big city who inherits a farm from your grandpa. You decide to quit your soul-sucking corporate job and move to the country, where you try to rebuild the community, woo a spouse, and run a money-making enterprise. Stardew Valley is great if you need something that is distracting enough to take your mind off pain but also not so intense that it needs you to do anything harder than hit the button to plant a cauliflower.
