Sometimes an old idiom surprises you. For instance: a lot of my hair fell out due to a combination of stress and malnutrition, and now it’s growing back, and now it’s curly. Which is to say, events took a turn that made my hair curl. Who knew that really happened? Probably a lot of people because after this happened to me maybe three separate people said it had happened to a friend of theirs. But now I number among them. So do you.

I’ve always been a terrible sleeper but since Last Year’s Ongoing Unpleasantness it’s really gotten much worse: staying up until three or four in the morning, then sleeping until late in the afternoon. Even though that’s technically well over my recommended daily allowance of sleep it just meant being exhausted all the time, waking up already behind on everything, and spending a lot of time just kind of staring around trying to get thoughts together.
