I’ve been telling the story about how one of the first things I ever said was “I don’t want that” re: a banana for—at a conservative estimate—ten years. It’s definitely been a sort of “haha, I’ve always been the same person” story for me, including but not limited to not really liking bananas that much. (I eat them… but I don’t enjoy it.)

When I put it in the newsletter yesterday I briefly thought—well, my parents are literally in this home, maybe I should ask them if my “family lore” is accurate instead of hedging by using the term “family lore”—but then I thought, what are the odds I would come up with a completely fictional story about not wanting a banana? That would be such a weird thing to think was true for no reason!
