Katy Perry Play at Resorts World, Las Vegas (slgckgc via Wikimedia Commons)

Katy Perry recently announced her new album by dropping a snippet from a (pretty dreadful-sounding) “women are soooo powerful” song called “Woman’s World.” With this snippet came rumors that Dr. Luke—the producer behind most of her monster hits—was heavily involved on the new album were swirling around the internet. Dr. Luke is also known as “the producer who Kesha accused of raping her,” and he, probably for that reason, did not work at all on Perry’s last two albums (which, perhaps not incidentally, performed poorly commercially).

Reuniting with Katy Perry wouldn’t be a “comeback” for Dr. Luke. He has stayed working despite this particular cloud. That’s not that surprising. For one thing, Kesha is not very powerful! Even outside of Kesha’s accusation, Dr. Luke seems to be disliked by plenty of artists just for being a bully—both Kelly Clarkson and P!nk have spoken about how terrible he was to work with.
