I saw this Rolling Stone piece about Bonnie McKee, hit songwriter of the 2010s (she wrote or co-wrote most of Katy Perry’s big Teenage Dream hits), and her decision to try for stardom herself, and her new single, and so on. Squinting at the headline and the big image of McKee, I had a creeping sense of deja vu: hadn’t I already seen this somewhere before…? Hadn’t this happened before…?

Answer: yes… in 2013, when she put out her single “American Girl.”
