
It’s hard to know for sure, but I estimate I’ve lost about fifty pounds since last summer, most of it in the first few months after going to the hospital. You don’t (or at least shouldn’t) need me to tell you that’s not actually healthy, but—just in case—it’s not actually healthy to lose weight that quickly. Even if you’re willing to risk it all for a #snatched #bod your body is mostly eating your muscles.
One of the few all out battles I’ve had with a medical professional was with a hospital dietician who wanted me to stay on a feeding tube because I was so malnourished. I hated the feeding tube, which was awkward and painful, but the only way to persuade her to take it out was to eat at least 1500 calories and I discovered that this was actually extremely hard for me to do with the kind of food I had to eat. In fact, I failed to do it. One of the reasons I remember her still with so much hostility is that she was basically right.
